WEST MINERAL — Annual Easter sunrise services will be held at 6:30 a.m. at Big Brutus. The Rev. Dennis Johnson will conduct the service, which will be open free to the public.
Pittsburg Presbyterian Church will have a “Sonrise Easter Service” at 8 a.m. , followed by a free Easter breakfast at 9 a.m.
Pastor K.O. Noonoo will bring the Easter message “Life and Death” from John 20:1-18 at 10 a.m. Choral anthem will be “Joy in the Morning,” directed by Susan Laushman. Bell choir, directed by Terry Cox, will play “Shout to the Lord!”
One Great Hour of Sharing offering will be collected. These gifts support ministries of disaster response, refugee assistance and resettlement, and community development that help people find safe refuge, start new lives and work together to strengthen their families and communities.
A fully staffed nursery will be available for infants and toddlers. All services will be open to the entire community. Anyone needing additional information may call 231-2920 or visit www.pittpres.gorg.
CHEROKEE — First Baptist Church, Cherokee, will have three Easter morning services. First will start at 8:15 a.m., a second at 9:30 a.m. and the third at 10:45 a.m.
A nursery and children’s program will be provided during each service.
An Easter Sunday play titled “The Man” will be presented at 10 a.m. at Victory Life Church. It will be open to all, according to Donnie Talent, pastor.
Pittsburg Public Library will be closed in observance of the Easter holiday. It will reopen at 9 a.m. Monday.
Regular library hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
There will be no dance Easter Sunday at the Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 post home. Dances will resume on April 19.
Monday, April 13
Frontenac American Legion Auxiliary Unit 43 will meet at 6 p.m. at the post home for a salad supper. Members attending should bring a favorite salad. Officers will serve as hostesses.
A business session will follow the meal with Patty Cussimanio, president, presiding. Election of officers for 2009-2010 will be held.
Bingo will be played after the meeting with white elephant gifts as prizes.
Little Balkans Quilt Guild will have a monthly board meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Pittsburg Public Library. All guild members may attend board meetings.
Regular program meeting will be held at 7 p.m. April 20 at the Presbyterian Church. All are welcome.
TOPS No. 599
TOPS No. 599 (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at College Heights United Methodist Church.
Weigh-in will be from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m., followed by a business session. Anyone needing additional information may call 231-8321.
ARMA — Arma American Legion Auxiliary No. 182 will have a monthly business meeting at the legion hall. Hostesses will be Nadine Comley and Trisha Kreutzer.
GIRARD — Electa Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Girard, will have a stated meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Hall. Members will vote on which chapter they wish to consolidate with.
Mary Ann Wilson, past grand matron and special deputy to the worthy grand matron, will be present to assist. Margaret Nelson, worthy matron, and Jules Richard, worthy patron, will preside in the East.
