ARMA — Arma Community Choir will present its 2013 Christmas service, open to all surrounding communities, at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Arma United Methodist Church. The choir, composed of men and women from throughout the area, will sing a cantata titled “Let the Whole World Sing” by Joel Raney. Prelude music will begin at 5:45 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following the service. “This Christmas choral celebration is filled with original beautiful music and will be enjoyed by everyone,” said Michael Doue, director. “The choir has put a great deal of time and energy into preparing for their performance. No one will leave the service disappointed.” Accompanying the choir will be an orchestra consisting of Linda Roberts on piano, Donna Bogner on organ, Patty Nicholas on violin, Haley Pitts, flute, and Michael Brewer, percussion. A free will offering will be collected after the cantata. “All proceeds will be used to provide food baskets and other needed items to families in our community who are currently experiencing a hardship,” said Helen Normand, committee co-chairman. “About 40 food baskets are needed. We hope everyone in Arma and the surrounding communities will help us celebrate the season and support this worthy cause. The choir does a terrific job and their performance will touch everyone with the Christmas spirit.” Donations of canned goods and toys will also be welcome. Any of these items may be left at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or the Arma United Methodist Church. Anyone needing additional information may contact Normand at 620-347-8563.
