An attempted traffic stop Monday evening by a Crawford County Sheriff’s deputy resulted in a pursuit of two motorcycles and the crash of one.
At 7:34 p.m., a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on two speeding motorcycles in the Girard area, but the operators then attempted to elude the deputy.
They traveled south out of Girard and the pursuit continued to 570 Ave. and 190 St., where the motorcycle operators separated, with one going west and the other going south.
According to a press release by the sheriff’s office, the deputy continued the pursuit of the southbound motorcycle.
Near the intersection of 560 Ave. and 190 St., the operator, Antonio Alcorn, 20, of Gardner, Kan., lost control of the motorcycle on gravel and crashed.
He was transported by Crawford County EMS for unknown injuries and also was cited for fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and failure to stop at posted stop signs.
The second motorcycle operator has not been located, and the incident remains under investigation.
