The AARP Smart Driver Course, offered by AARP Driver Safety, will be presented from 1 to 5 p.m. April 23 and 24 at the Homer Cole Community Center.
The refresher course is designed specifically for drivers aged 50 and older, but teen drivers are also welcome and would receive driver tips for safety on the road. These safety tips and strategies will allow drivers, especially older ones, to continue driving safely for as long as possible.
The course can also be taken interactively online on a participant’s home computer at any time and at any location with Internet access.
Participants must complete both days of the course. Kansas insurance companies will provide voluntarily a multi-year premium discount to these participants. Discounts may vary and participants should check with their insurance agent before completing the AARP Smart Driver Course.
Instructor will be Ed Huffaker, Independence, the southeast Kansas coordinator for AARP Smart Driver Courses. Classroom course cost will be $15 for all AARP members and $20 for non-members.
The course is being sponsored by Crawford County AARP Chapter 646, which meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of every month at the Homer Cole Community Center.
Those wishing to attend the course should register by calling the Homer Cole Community Center at 231-9773.
