From the Governor's office:
Kansas Governor Sam Brownback announced Tuesday he has appointed Topeka Municipal Court Judge Steven R. Ebberts to the Third Judicial District Court. Ebberts’ appointment fills a vacancy created when the Governor appointed Judge David Bruns to the Kansas Court of Appeals.
“I am pleased to appoint Judge Ebberts to the Third Judicial District Court. He has demonstrated his commitment to his community and to the Kansas judicial process during his years of service, both public and private, and I am convinced he will continue to serve the people of Kansas in this new role for years to come,” Governor Brownback said.
Judge Ebberts, Topeka, is a 1993 graduate of the Washburn University School of Law. He engaged in general private and public practice before his appointment as Associate and Administrative Judge for the Topeka Municipal Court in 2003. The Third District Court serves Shawnee County.
The state’s 105 counties are organized into 31 Judicial Districts. The district courts serve as the trial courts for the state, overseeing all civil and criminal cases.
