I was humbled this week to receive the endorsement of former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin. Governor Palin is a strong conservative whose leadership has energized Republicans across the nation. And momentum for our campaign continued to grow this weekend when I won the Olathe Republican Straw Poll in Johnson County with 73 percent of the vote compared to only 26 percent for my opponent.
Governor Palin had this to say when she endorsed my campaign:
“I’m happy to endorse Todd Tiahrt’s campaign to be the next U.S Senator from Kansas. Todd is a protector of our Constitution, a pro-family, pro-Second Amendment Commonsense Conservative who has never voted for a tax increase and has fought to end the wasteful spending coming out of Washington. He didn’t just stand on the sidelines complacently, but instead actually battled against the bailouts, the debt-ridden stimulus spending, the cap-and-tax energy schemes, and Obamacare. In fact, remember on the day Obamacare was being debated, Todd Tiahrt was on the House floor all day working to defeat it, and he’s helped lead the charge to repeal and replace Obamacare the moment it was signed into law. We can count on Todd to take on the liberal spending agenda of the Obama administration and fight for lower taxes, more individual freedom, and less government intrusion.”
Conservatives across Kansas are lining up behind my campaign for the U.S. Senate because they want a true conservative leader representing our great state. In these times of out-of-control spending, historic debt and near double-digit unemployment, we need courageous leaders who are not afraid to fight for the shared Kansas values we hold dear.
I am a Constitutional conservative and have stood up for Kansas taxpayers by never supporting tax increases and by fighting for smaller, more efficient government. Unlike my opponent, I know first-hand the impact of onerous regulations and increased taxes on businesses. My family lost our farm because of the death tax – and I am committed to permanently repealing it. Congressman Moran has voted against a permanent repeal of the death tax.
If elected to the U.S. Senate, I will continue to work tirelessly to reduce the tax burden on our small businesses so they can focus on creating jobs and fueling our economy. We have to grow our economy from the ground up not the government down.
This is a critically important election. We cannot afford to send a reluctant Republican to the U.S. Senate. We must send a strong, committed conservative who is not afraid of taking on the tax-and-spend agenda of liberals in Washington.
