Independence Day is an opportunity to spend time with family and friends honoring America’s heritage and celebrating the freedoms and values our founders built this country upon. While they may currently be under attack in some parts of America, I know here at home in Kansas, those freedoms and values are still burning strong.
Independence Day is also a solemn reminder that the cost of freedom is high. There have been incredible sacrifices made on our behalf, providing us the very freedoms we often take for granted. It’s important to not only pay respect to the sacrifices of America’s bravest over many generations, but also honor those that are making these very sacrifices today.
Let Independence Day be an important reminder to cherish the freedoms and values we Kansans hold dear, remember our founders who instilled them here, and honor the sacrifice of the millions of Americans who have and continue to protect us and our freedoms.
