The Chamber held a morning Coffee Break last Friday at the Exchange State Bank, hosted by Frankie Dunnick and Mike Doue. Coffee, orange juice, and a variety of fruit and pastries were served.

Exchange State Bank, with its main bank in St. Paul, was established in 1914. The facility in Girard at 108 E. St. John was opened in 1996, followed by the opening of its third facility in Columbus in 1999. Frankie also owns the Prescott Bank which has been in business 105 years.

Officers and staff at the Girard bank are Frankie Dunnick, Dean Davied, Michael Doue, Lisa Parsons, Jill Davied, and Beth Newkirk. Local bank directors are Glen Mathis, Dr. Chris Paoni and Pete DeLange.

Frankie Dunnick has been Mayor of Girard and also Mayor of McCune and was known as the youngest Mayor of Kansas. He once ran for U.S. House of Representatives and was appointed to the office of State Bank Commissioner by Governor Finney in 1991 and served until 1995. Frankie is a member of the Craw-Can Telephone Cooperative Board of Directors, the Pittsburg State Foundation Board of Directors, Big Brutus Board of Directors and has been an outstanding supporter of the Girard Area Chamber of Commerce for many years.

Exchange State Bank is a full service bank, including on-line banking. You’ll find competitive rates on loans and investments. There staff will assist you with personal and friendly service. All decisions are made locally by members of your community, so you can count on small town customer service.  Banking hours are 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Thursday, 8:30 am to 6:00 pm on Friday and 8:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday.

The door prize, a roll of 25 John Tyler gold dollars provided by Exchange State Bank was won by Lisa Franklin, representing Girard Tarps. Heartland Electric was drawn for the $20 Chamber Check. A representative of Heartland Electric was not present to claim the $20 Chamber Check.  

The next Chamber Coffee Break will be hosted by Janice LaForge at the Madison House Bed & Breakfast, 211 N. Summit, Friday, July 10th. A door prize will be provided by the Madison House Bed & Breakfast, and a drawing will be held for all in attendance.  The Girard Chamber will have a drawing of all Chamber business and individual members for a $25 Chamber Check.  Coffee and pastries will be provided by Janice.

Chamber Coffee Breaks are scheduled once a month on the 2nd Friday, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at a business location or the Chamber office. Call the Chamber office to schedule a Morning Coffee Break for your business.
