Most Americans have little or no memory of Walter Cronkite’s 20-year career as anchor of “The CBS Evening News,” during which time he became the nation’s most trusted journalist.
Cronkite’s influence on the events of the 1960s and ’70s was considerable, especially since TV-viewing choices in those days were far fewer.
But his legacy is called into question in a new book by historian Douglas Brinkley, who gave this interview yesterday on CNN:
