The unofficial title of Craziest Member of Congress has always been a subjective consideration, and these days the competition is intense among the likes of Michele Bachmann, Louis Gohmert, Allen West and a few others whose stated opinions often are daffy, to put it politely.
But perhaps the strongest contender for the distinction is Republican Rep. Paul Broun (above) of Georgia.
We’ve mentioned Broun here on several previous occasions, such as when he warned that Democrats were planning to declare martial law and when he declared lingering resentment of what he called the “Great War of Yankee Aggression” against the Confederate South.
