You may not hear the roar of the crowd from Carnie Smith Stadium or John Lance Arena but that doesn’t mean our Gorillas aren’t competing this week.
In fact, several of our teams spent the week taking part in national competitions in Kansas City, Missouri, and Pueblo, Colorado.
Our SIFE team won their first round and moved on to the semi-final round where they finished third in their league. This means that the Gorillas were one of the top 16 teams in the nation and that includes Division I teams! Here’s a quick flashback video … you’ll see the Gorilla team at the :55 mark celebrating their victory.
Fifteen Pittsburg State track and field student-athletes are in Pueblo, Colorado, competing in the Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Senior Heidi Smith and sophomore Keenan Soles each garnered All-American honors in the first day of action. The competition continues through the weekend and you can follow all of the action online at our website.
So don’t let the silence fool you … there’s a lot of competition … and winning going on at Pittsburg State.
