Olympic Lessons for the Workplace
Each day during the Olympics, I’ll post a nugget relating a value of sportsmanship and the Olympics to your professional life.
Today’s Olympic Nugget: Some of your greatest accomplishments will come from group efforts.
How about the performance of the USA Women's Gymnastics Team? What an amazing night! Those five young women maximized their combined strengths and supported each other to win Olympic Gold.
As professionals, many of our greatest moments also come as part of a team effort. Perhaps it's a sales team or a group of experts working to address an issue in the community, but the necessary ingredients are the same: a winning combination of strengths among individuals and a team mentality that offers support, encouragement and accountability.
When a team of yours does well and hits a goal, don't forget to let your teammates know you appreciate their contribution and celebrate as a team! Together, you were able to accomplish something that would not have been able to happen otherwise, so acknowledge each other and regroup to tackle the next challenge together!
Have you been on a winning team recently? What did your team accomplish?
