Dudley King Flint, May 28, 1913-September 22, 2009, 96, died on September 22, 2009 at his home of 16 years in Laguna Woods, California.
Although born in Glens Falls, New York, he grew up on North Osage in Girard, KS with his younger sisters Sallie Elizabeth (Flint) Pease and Marcella June (Flint) McMaster. His mother, Ethel Maria King worked in the County Department of Records and his father, Dudley Vail Flint ran a coal delivery business in Crawford County. Dudley graduated from Girard High School in 1931 and from Kansas State University in 1937, where he was a drum major for the K-State marching band. Dudley and Bonnie G. Johnson (an Arkansas girl) wed in 1937. They moved to California during the WWII years, where they established their family and life’s work. As a mechanical draftsman and technical writer, Dudley’s career spanned over 40 years in the aerospace industry. He took special pride in his work on Lockheed’s P-38 Lightning as well as his last project, the McDonnell Douglas DC-10. After retirement, he and Bonnie first moved to Kona, HI in 1979 where he enjoyed snorkeling and golfing, and then to Laguna Woods, Calif., in 1993.  There he participated in lapidary, ceramics and fitness classes as well as the art association. He had a lifetime love of music, adding his fine tenor voice to many choirs and ensembles. He will be greatly missed by his wife Bonnie, his sister Marcella, his son Robert and daughter Shelby, his grand-daughters Tara and Eva, as well as his many relatives and friends. The family is grateful to Vitas Hospice for their invaluable support; the Neptune Society of Costa Mesa (949-646-7431) is handling final arrangements.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers tax-deductible donations in his memory be made to the Concert Choir at Kansas State University: The Music Service Guild, C/O Lori Baker , Department of Music, 109 McCain Auditorium Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506
