Five new teachers have joined the faculty at St. Paul Schools for the 2009-2010 school year. Many of the new teachers agree that they “like St. Paul because it has small classes and a small, but good community”. New teachers this year include: Lewis Hundley, Kaylee Johnson, Kari Sutter, Tara Downing, and Amy Turner.
Lewis Hundley was hired as the band and music teacher. He has classes that include kindergarten through twelfth grade. He said, “I want the band to impress people. I want to get it rockin'!” This is his first year teaching. Mr. Hundley graduated from Pittsburg State University.
Kaylee Johnson is the new agricultural education teacher. She was raised in Carthage, Missouri. After graduating from Missouri State University, she became a teacher at Carthage for four years. She is very interested in establishing and growing a strong FFA Chapter program in St. Paul. Her expectations are very high and she has added an eighth-grade program to her curriculum to get students interested in the program earlier.
Kari Sutter is a new math teacher who has been added to the faculty. She grew up in Valley Center, north of Wichita, and she is a graduate of Wichita State University. Her classes include junior high and some high school classes.
The elementary added two new fourth grade teachers to the faculty this year. Tara Downing and Amy Turner. Miss Downing grew up in Coffeyville and graduated from Wichita State University. She is very excited to be at St. Paul Schools. Miss Turner is from the McCune area. This is her fifth year of teaching. Miss Turner previously taught for two years at Irving Elementary in Wichita, KS, and two years at Service Valley Charter Center in Oswego, KS. She is a graduate of Pittsburg State University.
The new teachers have fit right in with the faculty here at USD 505. The staff is looking forward to a great school year. With the addition of the new teachers, the school has been able to expand curriculum, programs and lower class sizes. Welcome aboard! We know this year will be a great success.
