Well, it’s finally official.  After months of denial, government officials, including Vice President Joe Biden, admitted inspection teams have, or are in the process of, assessing security levels for prisons in several states.

Saturday night my mother (age 89) and I enjoyed an entertaining evening at the memorial auditorium watching Vicki Lawrence and Mama. 

I am writing about the cartoon and I laughed because it was so universal.

Having passed the four score and 10 mark, and being of sound mind (I think) if not of body and a little cynical, I enjoy reading “Letters to the Editors” in several papers.

In case you haven’t heard, the event of the year (possibly even the decade, depending on your level of obsession) takes place on midnight of Friday, November 20.

One thing I think we can all agree on is that we are outraged by the current fleecing of the taxpayer by big financial institutions.

Twenty five years ago, when Billy Graham said that Christians courting the politicians would end up by being used by them; could he have known the extent they would be involved and how it would weaken the gospel message he so lovingly preached (and still does.)

Good Morning!  Nov. 11th was Veterans’ Day and Applebee’s gave veterans and their wives a free meal as a way of thanking veterans for their service (I’m a USMC Vietnam veteran myself). 

Everyone who is involved or interested in Pitt State football is disappointed with the 2009 season.

We didn’t want another beautiful fall day to go by without thanking you for your generosity in donating over 1,200 coats in our recent coat drive.

Why do so many people hate America? 

Watching football at a stadium is a boring experience, but on TV it is like enduring a root canal for three hours.

I wonder, are the  un-employed  figures high enough yet, or do we have to wait until they get higher before the president openly starts a copy of FDR’s  “Civilian Conservation Camps.”

I still remember vividly the day I found out my Mother had survived breast cancer surgery after undergoing a radical mastectomy and lymph node removal.

The health care debate rages on, and when Todd Tiahrt visited recently speaking of freedom  in relation to health care, he added considerable heat  but no light to the discussion.
