The end of the Lakeside Park persons have enjoyed for years apparently is near, with no City Council discussion of its future.
The two fountains, which are attractive and aerate the water, have been turned off. The geese and ducks have been removed totally, not selectively. The city does not want to fill the feed trough at the duck house, so it will be torn down. There is litter throughout because some are too lazy to put it in a can one foot away, but no one talks about this problem. Some, a park worker says, use the barrels for their own daily garbage rather than have a garbage service.
We need a Friend of the Parks group to bring some sanity and concern and help to city parks — before Lakeside dies.
