Dear Editor,
Last weekend's March on Washington attracted tens of thousands, including many of America's finest. There were orators, artists, clowns and mimes. Those were just the politicians and former politicians, now lobbyists. They were protesting against President Obama whom they depict as a Socialist, Communist or Nazi, whichever suits your taste. Had they invited the president they may have drawn a real crowd. My favorite was Dick Armey, former Republican House Majority Leader and now lobbyist for the health care insurance industry. Also, the ever present Grover Norquist, one of the K St. gang who didn't go to jail in the Washington scandal that did send conservative fundraiser Jack Abramoff to prison. Others in attendance were the usual antigovernment crowd including those on government pensions and government run health care.
In Tehran, Iran tens of thousands of protesters, many shouting “Death to the Dictator” in defiance of Iran's Islamic leadership, clashed with police. Unlike our “Tea Party” provocateurs whose president couldn't have them incarcerated or worse these brave resistors risked more than just their dignity. The hardest thing many of our partygoers endured was having to use the portable toilets on the Washington Mall.
The so-called cartoon depicting President Obama as a “gang banger” and compared to a loose wild animal that should be neutered was offensive to me and I am not black. If I were, I would want to bang whoever allowed it to appear in the paper. I’m all for freedom of the press, but this was disgusting.
