Dear Editor:
During the past few weeks, I have seen several TV commercials, have received mailings, and have received e-mails from national animal welfare organizations requesting funding.
I feel that these large organizations which have heavy administrative payrolls are soliciting funds from local donors that should very well stay right here in southeast Kansas supporting our local Humane Society.
All of those pitiful pictures showing animals that have been neglected and abused could very well be taken here as there are plenty animals in this area who need help.
I understand that our local Humane Society is in desperate need of financial help. If you want to help animals, why not donate to our local organization that has minimal organizational salaries and most all of the money goes to help the animals.
Although these national organizations do well for animals, if we are going to maintain a local Humane Society, we cannot send our donations back east. I have checked and our local shelter receives no financial help from these organizations.
Please help the animals here in southeast Kansas .
