GIRARD — Crawford County Commissioners voted Tuesday to renew temporary notes in the amount of $1,011,890 for the Franklin sewer project.
Commissioner Carl Wood noted that some money had been held back earlier on the project to ensure that details such as re-seeding property disrupted by sewer installation would be completed.
“Have we had any complaints about the sewer project?” Wood asked.
“I haven’t gotten any complaints,” commissioner Linda Grilz replied.
County counselor Jim Emerson said that there had been a few people reporting issues, which had been resolved.
County clerk Don Pyle reported that he was almost done compiling the budget.
“I hope to get it done tonight, and I’ll get you a draft,” he said.
Commissioners set a work session at 9:30 a.m. Friday to go over the proposed budget.
On a sweeter note, commissioners have invited to again judge the “Commissioners Cookie Jar” contest at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Crawford County Fair.
Two of them had no hesitation, but Wood said he would have to check out a possible conflict of interest.
“If I have a grandchild in this contest, I’d like to be excused as a judge,” he said. “I’d be happy to judge anything that they’re not in.”
He said that he’s a strong supporter of 4-H and the fair.
“I’m glad we live in this wonderful county where the kids have this,” Wood said. “A lot of kids don’t.”
