The 14th Annual Tee Off Fore Foster Care Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, September 19th at the Crestwood Country Club, Pittsburg, Kansas.
The annual tournament is an event focused on raising funds for children in foster care.
Fifty-three teams were involved in this year’s tournament, totaling almost 160 golfers.
Funds raised from team registrations, sponsorships, and contests during the golf tournament, make it possible for youth to have the extras that many take for granted and yet can bring a sense of normalcy into the life of a child in foster care.
These extras can include music lessons, a pair of running shoes so that a youth can join the track team, a prom dress or even to meet a medical need.
Whether or not teams placed in the tournament or won a prize in one of the contests, they are undeniably champions in the eyes of children served by TFI Family Services, Inc.
A champion that deserves recognition by TFI Family Services, Inc. is Watco Companies, Inc., a tournament sponsor for more than 10 years. The late founder of Watco Companies, Mr. Charles R. “Dick” Webb, had a remarkable history of generosity.
In light of Dick’s passing earlier this year, a plaque was presented in his honor by TFI Family Services, Inc. Board Chair Teresa Clounch at a ceremony at the tournament. Mr. Rick Webb, CEO of Watco, accepted the plaque while flower bouquets were presented to Mrs. Charles R. Webb and her daughter, Susie Lundy.
The presentation took place in view of TFI Family Services, Inc. Board Members Mark Locke and Bud Cowan, Peggy S. Martin, CEO of TFI Family Services, Inc., Curtiss Hemby, Director of Resource Family Services, and Jason Cecil, Resource Family Manager as well as others attending the golf tournament. Hemby and Cecil made a special effort to be present; both have shared in building the longstanding relationship with Watco Companies that has resulted in a successful partnership to meet the needs of children in foster care in Southeast Kansas.
At the end of the tournament, scorecards were turned in and winners determined. The three man scramble format had three flights of winning teams. The Championship Flight winners are listed here. The first place team, with a score of 56, was Pete Krsnich, John Korsak, and Joe Krsnich.
Second place, with a score of 57, was Brian Hutchins, Dave Kloke, and Nick Long. Third place, with a score of 60, was Mike Murphy, Mike Murphy, Tyler Casey, and Zach Lehman.
