Alden and Lillian Stockinger

Mr. and Mrs. Alden C. Stockinger are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on September 17, 2009.  They were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac.  Mrs. Stockinger is the former Lillian Ruth Green, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Finis M. Green, formerly of Pittsburg, Manhattan, Kansas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Green served many years as Principal of Roosevelt Jr. High School and Pittsburg Senior High School. He later became Head of the Department of Education at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Alden Stockinger was born in Frontenac. His parents, Jacob and Hedwig Stockinger loved watching Alden play as a state recognized quarterback for his beloved Frontenac Raiders. Alden served our country in the United States Submarine Service in the South Pacific Theater in World War II. Alden and Ruth first met while attending K.S.T.C., now Pittsburg State University, in Dr. Cochran’s American History class.  They married three years later.  Alden was a 45 year employee of the Kansas City Southern Railway Company. During his career, he served in many different managerial positions. He worked in Pittsburg, Kansas; Dallas, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana.  Ruth was an educator for 35 years. She served as an elementary and middle school teacher in Paola, Kansas; Franklin, Kansas; Lone Star school near Pittsburg; Irving, Texas; and Shreveport, Louisiana. After moving to Shreveport, Ruth became a first grade teacher and principal at a prestigious 800 student private school. She continued as principal for the next 25 years. They have one son and two daughters, son David Curtis Stockinger and wife Lynda; daughters Betsy Diane Bell and husband David and Sally Beth David and husband, Keith. Alden and Ruth are the proud grandparents of nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A family celebration will take place a few weeks after September 17, 2009 at the home of Ruth and Alden on October 3, 2009. They reside at 12516 Schlayer Avenue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70816. Alden and Ruth have shared a beautiful 60 years together and are eagerly awaiting celebrating this very special day with their wonderful family.
