Happy Kansas Day … it seems Mother Nature was in a giving mood.
I understand asking for a White Christmas, but a White Kansas Day? I must have missed that lyric in “Home on the Range.”
Some folks are celebrating Kansas Day today at Wichita’s Cowtown with Marci Penner of the Kansas Sampler Foundation.
For $30 a plate, attendees can listen to songs about Kansas and the west by the Diamond W Wranglers, a Kansas birthday cake and enjoy Marci’s Stump You with Kansas Trivia questions with prizes going to those who answer correctly.
Trust me, there are few Kansas facts Penner does not have in her long list of lost and obscure Kansas trivia.
A few of Marci’s mind benders include:
Which county is home to both Castle Rock and Monument Rocks?
Which town is home to a museum with a replica of the first-patented helicopter?
In which county can you stand by a sign that points out the birthplace of Russell Stover?
Just think, today Kansas is 149 years old; next year, Kansas’ Sesquicentennial.
Do you know how you plan to celebrate 150 years of Kansas Statehood?
