Kansas Scenic Byway lottery tickets
In May, the Kansas Lottery introduced a new instant scratch ticket featuring the nine Kansas Scenic Byways.
The new Painted Byways game features original Kansas artwork by Kansas artist Stan Herd who painted scenes depicting the nine byways, including the Frontier Military Scenic Byway which runs through Crawford County from Baxter Springs up to Leavenworth.
The $2 tickets are available at 1,800 Kansas Lottery retailers in the state.
Non-winning tickets can be entered to win one of the nine original Stan Herd paintings during a drawing held on Nov. 13, 2009.

With the summer travel and vacation season upon us, a few new visitors guides recently arrived and are now available for free at the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Among the new guides include the attractive Go Wichita Visitors Guide from the new brand image of the Go Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The 56-page guide features detailed information on Wichita broken down into sections included Downtown Wichita, East Wichita, Northeast Wichita, West Wichita, South Wichita, surrounding communities, a dining guide and lodging guide.
The new 2009 Springfield, Mo., Visitors Guide has arrived and the 138-page brochure size guide features a cover similar to the 2008 guide, but updated information on the Springfield Cardinals, new restaurants in Springfield and new attractions.
State travel guides for Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas, state maps for the four states and visitors guides for large regional destination cities and lakes are all available for free at the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau located at 117 West Fourth Street inside the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

8 Wonders of Kansas Cuisine
Less than three days remain to cast your votes in the 8 Wonders of Kansas Cuisine contest.
With over 11,000 votes cast through Thursday, the Crawford County Fried Chicken restaurants need a last minute push from local residents.
The 8 Wonders of Kansas Cuisine Contest will continue to accept online votes and paper ballots through June 15.
All six fried chicken restaurants in Crawford County – Chicken Annie’s, Chicken Mary’s, Gephardt’s Chicken Dinners, Barto’s Idle Hour, Girard Chicken Annie’s and Pichler’s Chicken Annie’s – need your support and your vote to earn a spot as one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas Cuisine.
You can vote online at www.8wonders.org up to three times per e-mail address (and you must vote for eight entries for your vote to count) or you can vote by paper ballot.
Paper ballots are available at all six fried chicken restaurants in Crawford County or at the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau office located inside the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce, 117 West Fourth Street, Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
