A video by Pittsburg singer/songwriter Dustin Treiber has made it to the third round of voting in Country Music Television’s Music City Madness.
“Take Me Drunk, I’m Home” is one of 16 videos remaining in the contest. Around 700 videos were originally submitted, and 64 were selected for competition.
“Music City Madness is a single elimination bracket style competition,” Treiber said. “Each week, fans can go online and vote as many times as they want for their favorite artist. The winner will be announced on Dec. 15.”
Winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Nashville to record an episode of the CMT online series Studio 330 Sessions, have a private audition with Valory Music A&R department and a backstage experience with country superstar Reba McEntire.
Treiber, 28, works for Mytown Media, which deals with radio broadcasting and Internet media. “Take Me Drunk, I’m Home” is one of the first songs he wrote.
“Although I do not drink at all, I have been to enough college parties to be inspired to write this fun song,” he said. “In the fall of 2008, some friends and I made a music video for ‘Take Me Drunk, I’m Home’. We threw a party and staged a few scenes. When the video was finished editing, I put it on youtube.com.”
He said that the video was made to get a laugh, and not to promote alcohol consumption. “I intentionally included the line ‘Thank God somebody took away my keys!’ as a subliminal hint to be safe,” Treiber said.
His wife heard about Music City Madness after he had already started filming the video, and he decided to enter it into the contest.
“In October I found out that I had been selected to compete in the competition,” Treiber said. “The other competitors nearest to Kansas were a group in southern Oklahoma and another from Kansas City, Mo. Both groups have been eliminated.”
He currently performs with his friend Chase Robinson as country duo “Treiber and Robinson.”
“If I win, I hope to bring Chase with me in the hopes that ‘Treiber and Robinson’ might get a shot at making it big,” he said.
