Pittsburg Community Schools USD 250 will provide the Summer Food Service Program for Children, a federally funded program operated nationally by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the Child and Nutrition and Wellness Department of the Kansas State Department of Education.
Breakfast and lunch meals will be provided free for children ages 1-18. Adults may eat at a cost of $2.25 for breakfast and $3.25 for lunch.
Meals will be served from June 1-July 31 at Westside Elementary School and Pittsburg Community Middle School, as well as July 6-31 at Meadowlark Elementary School.
Hours will be as follows: Westside, breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to noon; PCMS, breakfast from 7:30 to 8:309 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Meadowlark, breakfast from 7:30 to 8 a.m. and lunch from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
All meals are served with milk. Breakfast menus for the week of July 6 at Westside, Meadowlark and PCMS will be as follows:
MONDAY
Cereal, juice.
TUESDAY
Breakfast bagel, juice.
WEDNESDAY
Pop Tarts, juice.
THURSDAY
Waffles, juice.
FRIDAY
Cheeses omelet, toast, juice.
Lunch menus will be as follows:
MONDAY
Chicken nuggets, rice pilaf, California vegetables, rosy applesauce.
TUESDAY
Pizza burger, tater bucks, green beans, fruit cocktail.
WEDNESDAY
Chicken and cheese burrito, tossed salad, corn, fresh fruit.
THURSDAY
Cheeseburger, tater tots, peas, fruit cocktail.
FRIDAY
Peanut butter and jelly, cheese stick, pork and beans, tossed salad, sliced pears.
Senior Services
Senior Services Nutrition Center, 3003 N. Joplin, serves lunchtime meals which are open to any person 60 or older.
Participants are asked to make reservations for lunch one day in advance. A donation of $3 per meal is suggested.
All meals are served with milk. The menus for the week of July 6 are as follows:
MONDAY
Sweet and sour chicken, rice, peas, blushing pears, bread and margarine.
TUESDAY
Shredded pork on bun, confetti corn, mixed fruit, cookie.
WEDNESDAY
Baked potato with chili/cheese topping, lettuce salad with dressing, crackers, apple raisin crumble.
THURSDAY
Turkey stroganoff, noodles, seasoned green beans, peaches and strawberries, bread and margarine.
FRIDAY
Chili sweet meatballs, Spanish rice, mixed vegetables, Irish applesauce, bread and margarine.
