Talking Heads

Talking Heads Discussion Group will resume at the Pittsburg Public Library, using the “Great Courses Series” from The Teaching Company.

“The Great Ideas of Philosophy” will be offered at 9 a.m., followed by “The World Was Never the Same: Events That Changed History” at 10 a.m. Participants may attend either or both courses, which begin with a 30-minute DVD lecture, then continue with group discussion.

The group, open free to the public, will meet every Friday in January except Jan. 18.

Senior Citizens Club

Pittsburg Senior Citizens Club will meet at 1 p.m. for a business session and bingo.

Members will celebrate the new year, and hear a program on ways to stay fit for 2013. Included will be tips on easy ways to get active.

Anyone needing additional information about the club may call  the Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department office at 231-8310.

Legion bingo

Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will sponsor bingo, open to the public, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the post home, 2815 N. Joplin.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. Early bird game starts at 6:20 p.m. Jackpot stands at 54 numbers for $350. This is a non-smoking event.
