Sunflower Kiwanis

Sunflower Kiwanis Club will meet for breakfast in dePaul Hall, Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center.

A short business session will be conducted by Roger  Wood, president. Shelley Gromer, club member, will present the program on team building. Members will be ringing bells for the Salvation Army during December at Ron’s Supermarket.

Sunflower Kiwanis is the sponsoring club for the new K-Kids Club at Meadowlark Elementary School. The charter and banner were presented by Bea Martel at a special assembly on Nov. 19. The new club has 44 members with several on the waiting list. The group has four community projects planned for the near future.

Club members will collect aluminum cans Saturday at Dillon’s parking lot.

New Beginnings
New Beginnings, social fellowship and dinner for widows, will meet at 11 a.m. at Otto’s. Ann Pugh is chairman.

All widows, new and old, may attend.

Sunset Manor bazaar
Sunset Manor will have its annual Christmas bazaar, starting at 9 a.m., through Wednesday. Available will be gourd crafts and other craft items, holiday decorations and baked goods.

Rotary Club

Pittsburg Rotary Club will meet at noon in dePaul Hall, Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center.

The program will be member grant presentations. Chuck Peterson will give the invocation and Paul Ebbert will serve as song leader. Lisa Little will have introductions, and sergeant at arms will be Scott Roberts.

Elks bingo
Elks Lodge No. 412 will host bingo at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

Overeaters Anonymous
Overeaters Anonymous will meet at 6 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Arma bingo
ARMA — Arma American Legion Post 182 will sponsor bingo, open to the public, at the post home.

Tristatesmen Chorus
JOPLIN, Mo. — Tristatesmen Barbershop Chorus welcomes men to join in an old fashioned barbershop sing at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the First Community Church, 15th and Murphy Blvd., Joplin, Mo.

Steak night
Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will have steak night, open to the public, at the post home, 2815 N. Joplin.

Canteen will open at 5 p.m., and feature rib eye steaks, sirloin tips, burgers, steak sandwiches and chicken strips.

Rob Morris OES
Rob Morris Chapter No. 74, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Center, 3105 N. Joplin. Opening will be in short form.

This will be the chapter friendship night. Betty and Claude Oehme will preside in the East. Marjorie Troy will receive a 50-year pin, and Elizabeth Engle and Marcella Page will receive 60-year certificates.  Mary Ann Wilson, past grand matron of the Grand Chapter of Kansas, will make the presentations.

Refreshments will be provided by the officers after the meeting, with Art and Marion Hartshorn in charge of the kitchen.
