Farlington
Jim and Helen Davenport, Nebraska, visited with Gary and Carol Davenport and George and Carol Davenport. They also visited with brother Gabe and Joan Davenport in Girard.
Thanksgiving guests of Bob and Dorothy Noe were Les and Debbie Wagner, Moran, Butch and Tammy Williams, Jace and Amy Geier, Girard, Cris and Jessica Walsh and Hunter, McCune. Visiting in the afternoon were Alan, Dana, Austin and Arlie, who recently moved to Girard.
Guests of Eda Bever for Thanksgiving and the weekend were Chuck, Kristi and Andrea Bever, Wamego, Kurt, Jane and Emily Bever, Bentonville, Ark., Sherry Partridge, Coffeyville, and Steve and Johanna Bever, Farlington.
Mary Hughes spent Thanksgiving with Jim and Becky Halsey in Fort Scott, also with Matthew and Marcia Bowersock.

Arcadia
Meyer Bluegrass Family Band, Sheldon, Mo., will present a free public gospel concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Arcadia Christian Church. A love offering will be accepted for the band. Refreshments will be served following the concert.
Mildred Nicoletti hosted a Thanksgiving dinner in her Arma home for her family and friends. Guests were Joe and Beckye Nicoletti with Christin and Whitney, Topeka, Christie and Wayne Parrish, Jenny and Ryan Dugan with Allyson, Kaden and Karter, Arcadia, Janet, Mark and Tara Van Leeuwen, St. Paul, Vera and John Parrish, Pittsburg, and Frank Blazic and Josh, Arma.
Carole Garrison joined her family group in Joplin at the home of her son and wife, Gary and Nancy Golladay. Their daughter, Angela and John Lane and sons Jacob and Brandon joined the group for Thanksgiving dinner.
A fireplace wiener roast with s’mores was held on the Friday after Thanksgiving in the new home of Mark, Haley, Katy and Benjamin Shead, Fort Scott. Guests were Simeon, Alexandra and Seth Pruse from Texas, Chrisi and Michael Shead from Michigan, Clayton Whitson of Wichita, Maria Shead and Aimee Blyer, Mitzi and Joel Ray with Cademon and Atalie, Tulsa, Okla., and local guests Vickie and Larry Shead, Garland, and Mary V. Shead, Arcadia. Family pictures were taken.
A total of 85 King relatives and friends gathered for their annual family reunion on Thanksgiving Day in a large tent at the Shead farm in rural Garland. Turkey and ham were served.
Arcadia friends were happy to see the wedding picture of Marcia Ellen Guthrie and Michael David Townsend. The bride is the daughter of Mark and Janet Guthrie, Nevada, Mo. The Guthrie families are formerly from Arcadia.
Nell Dikeman mentioned familiar Arcadia names in her 50-years-ago items in an area newspaper. In 1959, returning lettermen on the Arcadia High School cage squad were Melvin Nichols, Merle Mayfield, Tommy Stelle, Howard Beerbower, Elton Lakin, Ken Kunstel, Bob Wheeler, Howard Holland, Gene Johnson, Richie Dixon, Charles Hines and Jerry Engle. Ginardo Giacometti was the coach.
Santa Claus will arrive around 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Arcadia Community Center. Family night will be Dec. 19 at the center, and the Cato group will meet on Dec. 22. Arcadia High School Our Gang will meet Dec. 26 at the center.
Arcadia City Hall will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 31 for the holidays.
