Tesla McDonald, Pittsburg, and Tiffany Galloway, McCune, are among 26 students from around the state who graduated from iQ Academy Kansas in a ceremony May 22 in Topeka.
iQ Academy Kansas is an online program of Manhattan - Ogden USD 383 which offers an alternative to traditional classroom-based learning. The virtual middle and high school is designed to offer a high-quality education option for students in seventh through 12th grades. It does not charge tuition.
Licensed teachers provide small-group instruction and individualized support, all conducted online using a loaner laptop provided by the school. The curriculum offers core courses such as English and math, along with extensive Advanced Placement classes, virtual science labs and a wide range of foreign language courses from Spanish to Chinese.
Any student living in Kansas can take advantage of this online education option, including previously homeschooled students, athletes, performers and others with busy travel or work schedules, students with special needs and those seeking Advanced Placement courses or electives unavailable in their local school district.
