Nine members of the Northeast USD 246 KAY Club attended the Area 2 KAY Regional Conference recently at Altoona-Midway High School.
The club received the Blue Award in recognition of its student leadership and service to the school, community, nation and world during the 2011-2012 school year.
Kansas Association for Youth (KAY) is a character-building, leadership training program directed by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. The nationally acclaimed organization provides students an opportunity to assume their citizenship responsibilities and to enrich their personalities through well organized programs which emphasize service in school, community, nation and world.
Theme for the 2012 regional conference was “The Journey of a Lifetime.” The conference provided opportunities for student leaders and sponsors from neighboring clubs to share their successes and challenges, as well as exchange ideas. Sessions in leadership training and organizational skills were also offered.
Northeast KAY members attending the regional conference were Morgan Maransani, Jesslynn Ewan, Hope Cole, Cooper Wade, Grace Allen, Michael Toms, Shelby McCarley, Ellie Dearring and Madison Parcel. Accompanying the group was club sponsor Katy Karhoff.
