Arma Community Choir will present its 2012 Christmas service, open to all surrounding communities, at 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Arma.
The choir will also present an additional performance at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Frontenac United Methodist Church.
The choir, comprised of men and women from throughout the area, will sing a cantata titled “Heaven’s Child” by Pepper Choplin.
“This Christmas choral celebration is filled with original beautiful music and will be enjoyed by everyone,” said Michael Doue, director. “My favorite is ‘My Eyes Have Seen the Child’. The choir has put a great deal of time and energy into preparing for their performance. No one will leave the service disappointed.”
Prelude music will be played before the service. Refreshments will follow the cantata in the parish hall.
A free will offering will be collected.
“All proceeds will be used to provide food baskets and other needed items to families currently experiencing a hardship in our community,” said Helen Normand, committee co-chairman. “About 40 food baskets are needed. We hope everyone in Arma and the surrounding communities will help us celebrate the season and support this worthy cause.”
“The choir does a terrific job and their performance will touch everyone with the Christmas spirit,” added Nadine Jones, committee co-chairman.
Canned goods and toys are also welcome. They may be left at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or at the Arma United Methodist Church. Anyone needing additional information may contact Normand at 620-347-8563, or Jones at 620-347-4134.
