CHEROKEE — A city-wide rummage sale will be held in Cherokee, sponsored by the Cherokee Ruritan.
Church sale
CHEROKEE — Cherokee United Methodist Church will have a rummage and bake sale beginning at 8 a.m. during the Cherokee city-wide sale.
Proceeds will go toward church projects.
Can collection
Sunflower Kiwanis Club members will collect aluminum cans from 8 a.m. to noon on the Dillon’s parking lot.
Rummage sale
Crawford County Democratic Women will sponsor a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Democratic Headquarters, located at the corner of Adams and South Broadway.
A wide variety of items will be available, including knickknacks, children’s toys and clothing. Proceeds will be used to help promote local candidates. Anyone needing additional information may call Lynn Grant at 620-308-5518.
Book signing
G.L. Hardesty, Fort Scott, will sign copies of his book, “Choosing the Abundant Life: How to Find Purpose, Increase Your Faith and Draw Closer to God,” from noon to 2 p.m. at South Broadway Baptist Church.
In his book, Hardesty shows readers how to find fulfillment by understanding how God wants them to live.
Vilmer Post
Betty Lou Vilmer American Legion Post No. 394 will meet at 11 a.m. at the post home. Raymond Vail, District III commander, will be a guest at the meeting.
Dues will be collected.
Candidate visits
Tobias Schlingensiepen, candidate for U.S. Congress, will be at Democratic Headquarters, 716 S. Broadway, at 12:30 p.m.
Community members may meet the candidate, ask questions and share their concerns for the nation’s future with him.
Scrabble Club
Pittsburg Scrabble Club NASPA 613 will meet from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Pittsburg Public Library. Players of all skill levels may attend. Anyone needing additional information may contact club director Dan Lee at 620-249-2574.

Ron Blauvelt, Carthage, Mo., will sign copies of his book, “In Quest of Truth: Unlocking the Secrets,” from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Pittsburg Hastings store.
The author considers questions such as, were their creations prior to this one, what about prehistoric animals and men, how old is the earth and how vast is the universe.
