Wednesday, October 10  

Flu shot clinic

WEIR — A flu shot clinic will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Weir Senior Center, 108 N. Lincoln.

Those wishing to have flu shots need to bring their Medicare or Medicaid card. Blood pressure and blood glucose checks will be done from 11 a.m. to noon.

Weir Senior Citizens will have a luncheon at noon with chicken and noodles as the main dish. Those attending should bring a side dish or dessert. Table service and beverages will be provided.

There will be a guest speaker who will have information and samples of diabetic shoes.

All persons 50 and older may attend. Reservations may be made by calling 620-396-8944.

AARP Chapter 646
Southeast Crawford County AARP Chapter 646 will meet at the Homer Cole Community Center, 3003 N. Joplin, for monthly fellowship and program.

Fellowship with cookies and coffee will be at 9:15 a.m. The program will be a visit by state officers from Topeka. Greeters will be the first members who come early.

Members are asked to bring food products, plastic bags and/or money for Wesley House. All AARP meetings are open to the public.

Frontenac Rotary
Frontenac Rotary Club will meet at noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Program will be presented by Nacoma Oehme of the Fort Scott Community College construction trades program.

Rotary minute will be presented by Leo Sievert, Rotarian of the day. Francis Buche will be greeter, and Karen Cuendet will serve as sergeant at arms.

Lunch menu will feature spaghetti red.

Alzheimer’s program
Heart of America Chapter, Alzheimer’s Association, will host the second of a six-part family series on the disease at 1:30 p.m. at the Homer Cole Community Center.

Topic will be “I Don’t Need Any Help,” and will include a discussion of managing activities of daily living.

Sessions are held on the second Wednesday of each month. The series is being provided at no cost.
Anyone wishing to register or needing additional information may call the Alzheimer’s Association office, Parsons, at 620-421-6550, ext. 1794.

Golden Era
ARMA — Arma Golden Era will meet at 2 p.m. at the Golden Era Hall. Arma Care Center will provide the meal. All area senior citizens may attend.

SEK Interlocal
SEK Interlocal No. 637 will have a board meeting at 6:45 p.m. at the Interlocal office, 400 N. Pine, Pittsburg. The board will have a workshop from 6 to 6:45 p.m.

Xi Pi Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, will meet at 7 p.m. at the home of Rosie Borchardt. Co-hostess will be Jolene Remsberg.

Members will be working on the service project “Diapers for Newborns” to be given to Wesley House.

Alpha Laureate Chapter
Alpha Laureate Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, will meet at 7 p.m. at the home of Grace Powell, 1203 E. Quincy.

Chicopee card games
Card games will be played from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. very Wednesday, except holidays, at the Chicopee Community Center.

All card games are welcome. Bridge players do not need to bring a partner, since the game is set up so that everyone plays, even when there is an odd number of players.

Weight Watchers
Weight Watchers will meet every Wednesday at the Homer Cole Community Center. Weigh-in starts at 5 p.m., followed by the meeting at 5:30 p.m.
