Book sale
Southeast Kansas Recycling will have a book sale, open to the public, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the recycling center, 615 S. Joplin.
Fiction and nonfiction books will be available for the entire family. Cost will be 25 cents for hardbacks and 10 cents for paperbacks. Collectable books will be priced as marked.

Senior Citizens Club
Pittsburg Senior Citizens Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. in Lincoln Center for a dessert and recipe swap and bingo. November birthdays will be celebrated.
Anyone needing additional information about the club may call the Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department, 231-8310.

‘Holiday Happenings’
COLUMBUS — Cherokee County Extension FCS program and FCE Council will present the annual “Holiday Happenings” at 1 p.m. in the Cherokee County Extension Office meeting room, 124 W. Country Road, Columbus.
Program will begin with “Health in a Nutshell... Nuts for Nutrition and Flavor,” followed by “Holiday Cheers... Looking for New Holiday Beverages.” Samples and recipes will be provided.
Guest presenters will be Barbara Ames, Montgomery County FCS Agent, and Kylie Ludwig, Labette County FCS Agent.

Joplin dance
JOPLIN, Mo. — A dance and food drive, open to the public, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Joplin Shrine Club,  Doors will open at 6 p.m.  Music will be provided by Bobby Russell and Cherokee Country.
Snacks will be available. Admission will be $3 per person and a suggested donation of a minimum of three cans of food.

Legion bingo
Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will host bingo night, open to the public, at 6:30 p.m. at the post home, 2815 N. Joplin.
Canteen will open at 5:30 p.m. and feature burgers, steak sandwiches and chicken strips.
