Raymond and Shirley Griffitt, of rural Columbus, are pleased to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. An informal reception will be held November 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 at Sherwin Christian Church seven miles west of Columbus, Kansas. Refreshments will be served. The couple requests no gifts, but cards will be appreciated. Raymond Griffitt and Shirley Clevenger were united in marriage on October 29, 1949, at Oswego. The couple have lived and farmed near Hallowell, KS all of their married life.   Raymond delivered mail in rural Columbus retiring in 1990.  Shirley worked at Day and Zimmerman Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons retiring in 1991.
The couple’s children are Mary Plunkett of Fort Smith, AR, Sheryl Schneider of Asbury, MO, Janet McKinzie, Diana Hill, Gaye Slay, and Kenneth Griffitt, all of the Columbus area. The couple also have fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Three children, Raymond, Sandra, and Ray Griffitt are deceased.
