The Weir Public Library Board meet Sept. 10. Present were Trish Wyckoff, Ronda Coltrane, Roxy Blessant, Christine Locke and Stef Arbuckle.
Karen Thompson, Weir, was elected to fill a vacant board position.
The library will have a bake sale in the park Sunday during the Weir Homecoming. Baked items and beverages will be available during the drawings.
Buyers will have a chance to play “Library Discount Trivia.” Players will pull a card at random, and if they answer correctly, they will receive a 25-cent discount on their purchase of bake sale items or beverages. Minimum purchase must be $1, and only one card will be allowed per purchase.Juvenile grab bags will be available at the sale for 25 or 50 cents. Also available will be tickets for donations of 50 cents each or three for $1 for a game bag containing a set of “mysterious” cards and dice, poker cards with chips and instructions and a travel pack of seven games. Winner need not be present.
All proceeds will go toward the completion of the Libri Foundation Grant for 70 hardcover juvenile books. The foundation provides an opportunity for smaller libraries across the country to purchase quality hardcover books for every level of juvenile reader.
In case of rain, all activities will be moved to the Weir Civic Center.
Preschool storytime is being held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays. No registration is required.
New books on the library shelves are: “Twenty Wishes,” Debbie Macomber; “Left to Die,” Lisa Jackson; “Damage Control,”J.A. Jance; “Being Elizabeth,” Barbara Taylor Bradford; “Off Season,” Anne Rivers Siddons; and “The Mercedes Coffin,” Faye Kellerman.
