Gorilla Toastmasters
Gorilla Toastmasters meets at 7 a.m. every Friday at Names and Numbers.
The group, open to the public, is designed to help members improve their public speaking skills.
PATH
PATH (Personal Actions to Health) meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. in dePaul Hall, Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center. Karen Wells, director of the Mt. Carmel Regional Cancer Center, will present a program titled “Breast Cancer, a Family Event.”
Refreshments will be served, blood pressure checks will be available and door prizes will be given. All area senior adults may attend.
Friday Study Club
Friday Study Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. at Crestwood Country Club. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
Guest speaker will be Melissa Cedeno, owner of the Little Shop of Flowers. She will talk about downtown merchants and seasonal floral designs.
Hostesses will be Collen Gray and Joanna Freeman. Club dues will be accepted.
Senior Citizens Club
Senior Citizens Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium to watch the film “Young @ Heart,” a documentary about a chorus that sings rock, punk and disco. Average age of chorus members is 81, and the oldest is 92.
Popcorn and water will be served. There will be no cost to attend the meeting.

Legion bingo
Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will host bingo night, open to the public, at 6:30 p.m. at the post home, 2815 N. Joplin. Canteen will be open.
Joplin dance
JOPLIN — The Joplin Shrine Club will host a dance, open to the public, from 7 to 10 p.m. at 1040 S. Joplin Ave. Music will be provided by the Bob Russell Band.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. Food will be available. Admission will be $4 a the door. Anyone needing additional information may call 417-782-6116.
Slattery visit
Jim Slattery, Democrat candidate for the U.S. Senate, will meet with the public from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hotel Stilwell lobby. A light lunch will be served.

‘Talking Heads’
“Talking Heads,” weekly discussion group using the Teaching Company’s videotaped lecture series, will meet in the Pittsburg Public Library.
Three different series are offered, starting with “the Brain” at 9 a.m., followed by “History of the United States” at 10 a.m. and “Art Through the Ages” at 11 a.m. Each session consists of a 30-minute lecture followed by a brief discussion by participants.
Sessions are open free to the public. Those who wish may attend any or all of them.
