TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) #884, Pittsburg, will meet at the Knights of Columbus Towers.
Weigh-in will begin at 9 a.m., with the meeting starting at 9:35 a.m. All interested persons may attend. Anyone needing additional information may call 231-5447.
Noon Kiwanis
Noon Kiwanis Club will meet in dePaul Hall, Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center. Speaker will be Steve Scott, Pittsburg State University provost, who will provide a university update on budget, buildings, campus streets, etc.
Computer class
Pittsburg Public Library will offer an Address Book Mail Merge class from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Participants are asked to bring their personal address book from home and the library staff will help put it in electronic format using Microsoft Excel. From there, the staff will show participants how to do a mail merge in Microsoft Word to print labels, envelopes, letters, and more for their holiday correspondence.
Participants should have the ability to use a mouse and keyboard and familiarity with Microsoft Windows. The class will be open free to the public, and no registration or sign-up is necessary.
School skate
Meadowlark and Westside Elementary Schools PTO organizations will sponsor a school skate from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lowe’s Skateway Skating Center.
Frontenac bingo
Frontenac American Legion will sponsor bingo, open to the public, at the Frontenac Senior Citizens Center. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and play will start at 6;30 p.m. A total of 16 games will be played, and the evening usually ends around 8:30 p.m.
Faculty reading
Poet Laura Lee Washburn and fiction writer Karen Stolz will read from their work in the third annual Pittsburg State University Faculty Author Reading at 8 p.m. in the Balkans Room, Overman Student Center.
The reading, open free to the entire community, will be co-sponsored by the PSU Distinguished Visiting Writers Series and the Student Fee Council. A reception will follow in the Heritage Room.
Phi Kappa Chapter
Phi Kappa Chapter, Phi Tau Omega sorority, will have a “My Fair Ladies” pledge tea at 6 p.m. at the Lamplighter Inn and Suites. Members are asked to dress up and bring a snack or hors d’ouevres to share.
Current members will have a regular monthly business session immediately following the tea with Cindy Smirl and Terri Pingree as hostesses. Dip orders are due.
