Amy Elizabeth Potter and Phillip Perry Schmutz were married August 2 in the courtyard of the Saint Louis Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana with Pastor Kevin Burdette officiating. Parents of the bride are David and Pamela Potter of Overland Park, Kansas. Phillip is the son of Eric and Karen Schmutz of Tyler, Texas. Amy is the granddaughter of John and Vola Rogers of Pittsburg and the late Leonard and Katherine Potter. The bride’s Maid of Honor was Natalie McDonald. Attendants were Erin Henderson, Ashley Marriott, and Lindsey Caldwell. Jacob Schmutz, brother of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Chris Waggonner, Sky Young, and Matthew Diddle, nephew of the bride. Christopher and Nicholas Diddle, nephews of the bride, were ring bearers and Jesse Niebaum, cousin of the bride, was an usher. A dinner and dance reception was held in the hotel courtyard following the ceremony. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean. They are now residing in Baton Rouge, La. Amy is a 2000 graduate of Shawnee Mission South High School, Overland Park, Kansas. In 2004, she graduated with a degree in Journalism and earned a Masters Degree in Geography in 2006. Both degrees are from the University of Kansas. Phillip is a 2000 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas. In 2004, he graduated with degrees in Geography and Environmental Studies from Baylor University and in 2007 graduated with a Masters Degree in Geography from Louisiana State University. Both Amy and Phillip are doctoral students in Geography at Louisiana State University.
