Elizabeth Ellen Simpson and Adam Joseph Bradshaw were united in marriage October 27, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg. Officiating the afternoon ceremony was Rev. Roger Noah, assisted by Kelli Hendrickson.
Parents are Michael and RuthEllen Simpson and Rhonda and the late Randy Bradshaw. Beth designed her gown which was constructed by her sister, Sara Simpson. Fashioned from white bridal satin, the strapless corset bodice was embellished with a band of handsewn beads at the neckline. The full skirt featured pickups adorned with jewels, extending into a chapel length train. A pocket sewn into the underskirts contained handkerchiefs carried by her mother, great-grandmother Inez Bartholomew, and great-great grandmother Cora Ellen Banks on their wedding days. Rhinestone headbands accented her hair. Her jewelry included a diamond journey necklace given to her by the groom and diamond earrings borrowed from her friend, Jody Phillips. She carried a dozen white calla lilies handwrapped with her gown fabric and secured with a monogrammed stickpin from her great-great grandfather, Ed Banks.
Adam wore a black tuxedo with white shirt, vest and Windsor tie. His boutonniere was a white rose.
Maid of honor was Sara Simpson, the bride’s sister. Bridesmaids were Natalie Jepson-Kundiger, Lisa Pride, Lee Ann Dunekack, and Katie Rasmussen. Their halter gowns of burgundy satin were accented with rhinestone bars. The back of the skirts featured pickups, extending into short trains. They carried handwrapped bouquets of stargazer lilies and red roses.
Flower girls Isabel Hendrickson and Harleigh Drake wore white satin dresses with scattered rhinestones. Their baskets, designed and made by the bride’s mother, used Beth’s gown fabric lined with burgundy satin.
Jessilyn Humble attended the guest book and gift table.
Best man was Chris Bradshaw, the groom’s cousin. Groomsmen were Adam’s brothers, Eric and Ethan Bradshaw. Other groomsmen were Warren Boldrini and Louie Weimer. Ushers were Josh Pence and Judd Pride. They wore black tuxedos with hunter green vests and ties with red rose boutonnieres.
As guests were seated, they viewed a video of the couple’s childhood photographs produced by Beth as a gift for Adam. The processional, played by Susan Laushmann, was Pachabel’s Cannon. During the lighting of the family candles by the mothers, Eric Bradshaw sang “The Broken Road”. The recessional was “So Happy Together” by the Turtles.
A wreath of eucalyptus, red roses, and silver fern surrounding a silver “B” welcomed guests at the front door. The bride’s mother designed the wreath and the liturgical banner in the sanctuary. The sanctuary was also decorated with red and white roses, stargazer lilies and burgundy bows by Brian and Kelli Hendrickson.
Fellowship hall was the site for the buffet dinner of pulled pork and rigatoni. Dessert included hand-dipped chocolate strawberries and cheesecake. The tables were laid with white cloths topped by placemats of flower petals sandwiched between glass and hunter green matboard. Votive candles on mirrors were placed on each table. Twinkle lights were suspended from the ceiling. A reception and dance was held at the Mirza Shrine Temple.
The four-layer square cake was wrapped in burgundy ribbon with lilies and roses at the top. It was created by the bride’s grandmother, Lela Simpson, with confetti, chocolate, and white layers. She made the groom’s cake, a PSU gorilla splitface. Cupcakes with burgundy, green and white icing were also served. The groom’s mother made the rose buttercream mints in burgundy and green. The toasting glasses were from the groom’s parents’ wedding.
Also served at the reception were finger sandwiches, hand-dipped chocolate strawberries and cheesecakes.
Table decorations included roses floating in lighted globes, votive candles on mirrors, and red rose bouquets. Crayons were provided for guests to draw and write messages on the paper tablecloths. Candid photos of guests were taken by Ashley Terry, Jenna Geier, and Karissa Smith and arranged on a folding panel of doors with burgundy and hunter ribbon. At the entrance to the reception was a framed collage of the couple’s engagement photo and their parents’ wedding photos, in memory of Adam’s father. The gift tables were covered with a crocheted tablecloth made by the bride’s grandmother, Lela Simpson and a handmade quilt stitched by the bride’s grandmother, Hilma Bartholomew. A mailbox of white satin and silver embroidery was created by the bride’s mother for cards.
Assisting with reception decorations were Louis, Fran, Tom and Terri Bartholomew, Nancy Kernick, Joe Henson, and Diane Gallion. Cutting the cake and serving refreshments were Brian and Brenda Marshall, Herb and Gary Pernot, and Tiffany and Pat Simpson.
After honeymooning in Jamaica, the couple resides in Franklin. Adam is an assistant wholesale manager at The Finishing Touch. Beth is office manager and instructor for Jody Phillips Dance Company.
