GIRARD — The Girard City Council discussed two proposed ordinances and a new veteran’s park at their regular meeting Monday.
Golf Operations Manager Doug Guns presented the council with possible designs for a veterans’ park. The park would be built at an empty lot on the corner of Forrest Avenue and Cherokee Street. The lot has been owned by the city for approximately 20 years. The council instructed Guns to move forward with plans and implementation of the park.
The council approved an ordinance regarding unlawful signage. Under the ordinance, residents may not place signs on any city signs or telephone and light poles.
The council discussed an ordinance that would require residents to purchase a $5 license in order to have a miscellaneous sale, such as a garage sale. The ordinance was tabled indefinitely.
The council approved a natural gas agreement with Constellation Energy. The agreement is for the purchase of natural gas for the city’s power plant. The agreement lasts until October 2018.
