GIRARD — Newly-elected county officials took the oath of office Monday at the Crawford County Courthouse.

Sandy Casey was sworn in as Crawford County Register of Deeds and was the only official who had not held the position previously.

Casey previously worked at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and during her campaign said she plans to provide excellent public service to the citizens of Crawford County.

She said she is ready to get started.

“I am excited to be sworn in today as Crawford County’s Register of Deeds,” she said. “And I will start my new duties immediately.”

Also sworn in were County Clerk Don Pyle, County Sheriff Dan Peak, County Attorney Michael Gayoso and County Commissioner Tom Moody. All four officials are returning to their previous posts.

The ceremony was followed by the County Commission Reorganization meeting.

The commissioners elected Commissioner Carl Wood as the new commission chairman and Commissioner Jeff Murphy as the new vice chairman.

Girard National Bank, Exchange State Bank of Girard and First National Bank of Girard were selected as the official working banks for the business of the taxpayers of Crawford County.

The Morning Sun was selected as the official newspaper publication of Crawford County.
