GIRARD — The commissioners discussed dump trucks, insurance and tax abatement at their regular meeting Tuesday.
The county received bids from Midway Truck Center, Summit, Joplin Freightliner, Tri-State Truck Center and Kansas Truck Center for new dump trucks. The bids ranged from $115,926 to $143,860. Because the different trucks come with different options and specifications, the commissioners asked County Barn Foreman Greg Hite to review the bids and come back with a recommendation.
Ray Ryan of Ryan Insurance presented the commissioners with the county’s 2017 insurance package. The commissioners discussed workman’s compensation claims and insurance assessments on county property.
Zoning Administrator Troy Graham presented the 2016 Zoning Report and discussed a possible tire pickup to be done by the county. Disposal of tires will be funded up to $10,000 by the state in order to prevent an outbreak of Zika Virus. Tires must be picked up between Feb. 15 and April 15. The county will set days if they elect to participate.
The commissioners will speak with Miami County Building Inspector Mike Davis to discuss creating a codes court in Crawford County at their meeting Jan. 24.
The county will hold a work session at 9 a.m. Friday to continue work on a county wide tax abatement policy.
