Meet your legislators

The Pittsburg Public Library will hold a “Meet Your Legislators” program on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.  State Representatives Adam Lusker and Monica Murnan, as well as State Senator Jacob LaTurner have been invited to give updates on the current legislative session and answer questions from the audience.  The program is free and open to the public.


Pittsburg American Legion

The American Legion, 2815 N. Joplin, hosts a noon feed for veterans on the third Saturday of every month. Additionally, an accredited veterans service officer with the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 317 and sponsored by American Legion Post 64 Pittsburg will be present beginning at 8:30 a.m. Please call 620-231-2240 to make an appointment.


Veterans benefits

The Veterans Service Officer will be available every third Saturday of each month begining at 9am. All veterans needing assistance with VA benefits are welcome. Call the American Legion at 231-2240 to make an appointment.

Chicopee Foundation

The Chicopee Foundation will hosts its annual meeting at 5 p.m. in the chapel of the Chicopee Community Center. Following the meeting, the foundation will provide a chicken dinner in the basement hall. All members are encouraged to attend.


Legion dance

The Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will host Sunday Dance at the Pittsburg American Legion, 2115 N Joplin. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the dance is from 2-5 p.m.

Little Balkans Quilt Guild

The Little Balkans Quilt Guild will meet at 7 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Pittsburg. The program “Hexified Panel Quilts” will be presented by Liz Granberg.


DAR Meeting

The regular meeting of the Oceanus Hopkins Chapter of the American Revolution will be held Monday, March 20, 2017, at the Pittsburg Public Library.
The meeting will start at 5:30 pm.  Our program will be on Alexander Hamilton given by Leanne Webb.


Co-Dependents Anonymous

Co-Dependents Anonymous is a 12 step fellowship of men and women whose common purpose is recovery from codependence and the development and maintenance of healthy relationships. CoDA meets at noon at Grubbs Hall room 312. For further information call 620-231-0499.

TOPS 0599 (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at St. Mary's Grade School located at 301 E. 9th. Private weigh-ins are from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. and are designed to provide motivation and support to help members reach their weight loss goals. Visitors are always welcome. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) 0975, Girard, meets every Monday at 511 N. Western in Girard, KS. Private weigh-in will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 5:45 p.m. Meetings begin at 6 p.m. A support and motivational program is presented each week to encourage members to reach and maintain weight loss goals.
