PITTSBURG — The Morning Sun has welcomed some new faces in 2017, including Pittsburg native Paige Farrington, who is serving as the paper’s newest multimedia sales executive.

Farrington — formerly Paige Badart — graduated from Pittsburg State University May 12 with a bachelor’s degree in sales and marketing. Just six days later, she started at The Morning Sun.

“I’m really glad I got to stay here,” Farrington said. “I had applied to a few jobs in Joplin, but when the position in Pittsburg came open, I jumped at it.”

Farrington grew up in Pittsburg and attended elementary school in Pittsburg before transferring to Frontenac to finish. She met her husband, Caeleb Farrington, here as well. The couple will celebrate their second anniversary in November.

“My whole family is from here, as well as my husband’s whole family,” she said. “I love Pittsburg — everything about this city — I want to stay here and eventually raise a family of my own.”

Spending time with her family is an important part of Farrington’s life, and she enjoys seeing them in her free time. Along with family activities, she enjoys painting and going for a walk or run nearly every night.

At the paper, Farrington will work with clients to place advertisements in the print version and on the website.

“I thought this would be a great opportunity to grow my knowledge of sales while connecting with the community I love,” she said. “I really like the team here and work well with everyone. I’m happy for the chance to make my hometown’s paper even better.”
