PITTSBURG — Pittsburg Public Library patrons will now be able to read their favorite magazines digitally through a program called Flipster.
Flipster is an online newsstand which allows quick access to magazines — including National Geographic, Time, Rolling Stone, US Weekly, Teen Vogue and more.
The magazines can be downloaded to phones and tablets for offline reading.
Pittsburg Public Library Assistant Director AnnDee Peterson said they chose this program because it doesn’t require a login like many other programs they have.
In the library, all patrons need to do is get on the computer.
If the patron is outside the library they will be able to log in with their library card — even at home.
PPL’s selection currently has a total of 19 magazines and will grow as time goes on.
“We are open to suggestions if folks want certain magazines magazines,” Peterson said.
Peterson said she personally loves magazines and believes it is a good add-on for the library.
“I love magazines,” she said. “I have stacks at home, many I haven’t got to yet.
“Flipster might help with my stacks at home.”
