1. Pittsburg ArtWalk

Pittsburg ArtWalk is returning for its 11th year. The event will feature a record 28 artists, as well as live music, food vendors, a beer garden and more. ArtWalk takes place from 5-9 p.m. Friday in downtown Pittsburg. Broadway will be closed off from 4th to 7th streets during that time. A portion of the proceeds from the beer garden and other features will benefit the SEK Humane Society.

2. Live Band Karaoke

Kansas Crossing Casino is bring live band karaoke to The Corral this Friday and Saturday. The band plays every genre from country to hip-hop to punk rock. They bring the band and the lyrics, and it’s up to folks in the audience to grab the microphone. If you’ve ever dreamed of being the lead singer of your own band, live band karaoke may be just for you. Admission is free, doors open at 7 p.m. and karaoke begins at 8 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.

3. Big Brutus Polka Fest

The Big Brutus Polka Fest kicks off Saturday at 7 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m. The evening will feature live Polka music from the Johnnie Zibert Band, as well as concessions. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

4. Get Lit

Get Lit is a young adult writing group, which meets at Pittsburg Public Library. Slam poetry, short stories, gaming reviews, fanfiction, musicals based on important figures in American history, whatever — this is the place for you. Get Lit is open to all types and genres of writing. All writers in grades 6-12 are welcome. Get Lit meets Saturday from noon to 1 p.m., right after the book brunch, where young adults can bring in and discuss their favorite or current read. Book brunch is from 11 a.m. to noon and includes donuts.
