PITTSBURG — Hurricane Harvey caused damage and flooding through Houston and part of its surrounding area, the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas is accepting donations from community members to assist with the damage.

The foundation will send the donations to nonprofit agencies or its partner community foundations in the affected areas of Texas.

“We can see to it that the money will go to the non profit organizations and see it’s way into the community,” Community Foundation Executive Director Kit Parks said.
Parks said the these contributions will go towards both immediate and long term impacts of the disaster.
“The donations will be used for rebuilding, specific needs or whatever the Community Foundation designates from the city’s needs,” she said.
To make a donation for this disaster, make the check payable to: Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas and on the memo line specify: “Hurricane Harvey.”

Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 1448, Pittsburg, KS 66762-1448 or dropped by the Community Foundation office at 100 South Broadway, Suite 100 in Pittsburg.  

Donations may also be made online at www.southeastkansas.org by selecting the Disaster Relief Fund or by calling 620-231-8897, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Donations are tax deductible.
