PITTSBURG — The community will be able to have access to their favorite events at the Little Balkans Day festival with specially designed buttons.
A contest was put on to select the art of the button, a button which encapsulates the Little Balkans Days.
“Someone in the community caught the spirit of the Little Balkans Days, what better thing to capture — the Miners Memorial,” President of Little Balkans Day Association Angela Meyer said.
The winner of the contest is Debra Jones, a photography hobbyist.
“I was shocked to get first place at first” Jones said.
Jones said she saw the post for the contest and took a series of photographs to enter. The photograph which, Meyer said captured the Little Balkans, was the one of the Miners Memorial.
The buttons are $5 each and proceeds go back to the festival.
Meyer said the buttons were printed and donated by Mpix.
“That was super sweet,” she said. “They donated them to pass them out.”
The buttons give patrons access to the following events:
Accordion Festival and Polka Dance
Chicken Dinner at Meadowbrook Mall
Crawford County Historical Museum
Family Movie Night
French Cookie Demonstration
Miners Hall Museum Scavenger Hunt
Those who are 21 years old and over can take their button from 8 a.m. on Friday until 10 p.m. Sunday to Kansas Crossing Casino to receive $5 in free play.
The participant must be a DynaMyte Club Member. To Receive Offer, a DynaMYte Club Members must show their Little Balkans Button at the Cashier Cage at Kansas Crossing Casino. The offer is one per person and is non-transferable.
