1. Pittsburg Idol Auditions

Thirty-five singers ages four to 18 will take the stage at the J.J. Richards Band Dome in Lincoln Park Saturday to audition for a spot in the finalist event for Pittsburg Idol 2017. Performances begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue through 3 p.m. Performers have two minutes to audition, and finalists will be announced on the Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department Facebook page later that day.

 

2. Living History Camp

The Crawford County Historical Museum is bringing back its Living History Camp reenactment for the second year. The camp will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and feature local historians, information about civil war life and live bluegrass music.

 

3. Cody Canada and the Departed

Cody Canada and the Departed will bring live Red Dirt music to the J.J. Richards Band Dome at Lincoln Park Saturday. Formed by Cody Canada and Jeremy Plato — former frontman and bassist of Cross Canadian Ragweed, respectively — The Departed offers a unique blend of folk, rock and country. Openers include local favorites the Shane Duling Band and Conway Jackson. Openers begin around 5:30 p.m., with The Departed taking the stage at 9 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

 

4. Bus Races at Humboldt

Humboldt Speedway is hosting bus races from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. The Southeast Lancers “Band Bus” will be racing. Any winnings will be donated to the Southeast High School band.

 

5. Little Balkans Days

Aside from larger events, Little Balkans Days will have plenty going on all weekend at Lincoln Park and in downtown Pittsburg. Shuttle service will be available between the two locations. The weekend will include a fishing derby, children’s games, live music, food and arts vendors and much more.
